The other day I saw this tweet and immediatly thought in him.
As i said in the other entry, I started to reconnect with my whovian side recently, I started watching the tv show in 2009 and although I wasn't a big sci fi fan at first I quickly became bond to the characters, actors and the stories in it.

But the funny thing is, I never knew, well I did knew but wasn't that interested, in the audio dramas but one day I saw a pic of David Tennant (the 10th Doctor) with Paul (the 8th) in a convention and then I remembered Paul and his stunning mini-episode in Youtube, the movie and my first attempt of listening the audios three years ago.

After watching the melancholics Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, Twelfth and now Thirthieth Doctors (I've only saw the New Who era, sorry) Experiencing the always joyful Eighth Doctor before the Time War is such a delight and Paul is just so splendid at it I consider a crime to only have him in audios and not in the actual tv show (he just have a couple of TV moments, a 1996 TV movie and a minisode in 2013)

But let's start from the beginning.

Doctor Who is a tv show that aired initilly from 1963 until its cancellation in 1989. In 1996, 7 years after its cancellation, America tried to resurrect the show by doing a movie. Since it's a british show the main actor had to be british and that's how he got the role. (His audition is in youtube and it's always a delight to see how he transforms into lovely Eight at 0:51)
The TV movie was actually the pilot of a new series and it was going to be set in America, the man even planned to move there with his wife and kids but the movie was a total failure and the series was cancelled after it.

Good thing, because the movie plot was so bad, and the wig was so horrible (fun fact: he had to cut his hair for another role and when he came to the Doctor Who set the producers were so horrified they had to put that wig everyone including mcgann hates) The movie was bad but it was his acting which in a way saved it and his Doctor (and his voice, god, that deep, calm voice) will always remains in our hearts.

After that we didn't saw any Doctor Who in the TV until 2005 with Chris Eccleston in the main role with news of a Time War between Time Lords and Daleks and that was what apparently ended with the life of the Eighth (we never saw the Time War itself, thet just mention it)

We never knew what happened with him after the movie but that was't entrely true because Paul returned to the role in 2001 (even before the new series started) in the form of audio stories which became the home of the Eighth Doctor. He continued having adventures, even today he still have audio dramas and if he was good in the movie, the audios helped to establish him more as the character. People describe him as a "romantic" and yes, he is a romantic but also adventurous, reckless, naive but also can be very dark and the more we reach the Time War era, the more we see how he deteriorates and becomes more obscure and angry as he just keep losing his friends to the War.

Years later (2013 to be precise) in the 50th anniversary of the show a minisode was released in the yt channel. I was at uni, sitting in a bench, put my earphones on and a girl was looking for help (in the video) until someone (also in the video) said "I'm a Doctor" we couldn't see his face at first but then he said "but probably not the one you were expecting" and I swear I almost drop my phone, it was Paul Mcgann the Eighth Doctor 17 years after the movie and still looking good. At that time the show was in the 11th Doctor (the youngest of them all, Matt Smith) and Paul being the 8th the writers totally nailed the line "but probably not the one you were expecting" lmao I still love that line so much. The minisode is about how Eighth lost his "life" and regenerated into another Doctor, the War one.

Anyway, the thing is. Years later after that mini episode, I found out some of the audio dramas were on Spotify and started listening to them. There are plenty of audio adventures, even the classic and new era Doctors but as they already had their moment on the TV I decided to give only the Eighth Doctor a chance because I knew knothing about him and what a joy that decision was because not only he has the best voice of them all, the stories are darker than the TV show, probably because they're directed to a more mature audience.

Regarding the TV Show vs Audio Dramas, I think that if some day they give him at least one season on the TV (because he's still look good at 62, perks of being a vegetarian) the stories wouldn't be as good as the ones we listen in the audio dramas. But who knows, personally, I would like to see him one more time on the TV, in interviews he looks so full of good vibes and interested in the fandom and so nice with fans is so difficult not to fall for him. His Doctor easily became a favorte of mine, a carefree alien, book and tea lover, wandering around the universe running away from his own kind, the pompous Time Lords, looking for adventures with his favorte species: the humans.

About the actor, I only have seen a few titles of his filmpgraphy apart from Doctor Who, but if I were to reccomend one film, that would be a classic one named Withnail and I.

Mandatory pic to end this entry

Hugs for everyone (even the Daleks):

Domoto Tsuyoshi first solo work I heard (DW)

And I have to say it, I know nothing about funk music and honestly I don't know if I'm actually being biased but i really like it. T & U is just that one song you just can't stop listening to it although it's repetitive af and starts with weird sounds. The lyrics are kinda cute though. If i remember correctly, in the mste performance he said that T&U could just mean "Tsuyoshi & You" meaning that funk music is just to enjoy and have a fun time and this time you're having a nice time with Tsuyoshi's funk music, just Tsuyoshi & You, something like that. He even placed a little heart symbol next to the lyrics T & U, so in the official lyrics it says: "T & U ♡". SO CUTE. Break a bone Funk & 偉魂 (えらソウル) also has that funky groove sound I'm starting to love. Actually, 偉魂 (えらソウル)  is also a wordplay(?) since he got the inspiration when he guested on a variety show and saw that the girl who hosted it has Air Soles shoes, something like that.

Like I said before, I have some kind of history with this particular mini album and that is, it was the first solo work of his I heard, that's why I was so dissapointed when I saw that the Limited Edition was out of print on CD JAPAN (as expected because I was too too late, the album is from 2016).

There's a reason I wanted the LE so bad, like really really bad. I found this copy relatively cheap on Amazon, was here in two - three days just to found out it was a Taiwanese Edition. There's nothing wrong on it aside from the fact that the materials seem cheap in comparision with the previous albums I've bought and also the fact that my PC couldn't read the DVD but anyway.

There's no penlights, nor uchiwas in the audience. The reason is for not to disturb the sound of the orchestra on stage which is now starting to play a familiar melody. It's a scenary the two men standing in front have never seen before. Soon they start to sing. Anniversary. They're celebrating their 20th Anniversary. It has been a tough tough year but it's in these difficult times when we get to know how depth our strenght is. You're stronger now. And your bond, unbreakable.

You are together again.

Yokatta ne. KinKi Kids.

The following words comes from a fan who just started to know KinKi Kids since last year, when they were in the middle of the celebrations of their 20th Anniversary. Yes, I'm a newbie, which means I only have one year in the fandom but even in that short period of time I've learn to admire, respect and love them. But not only love who they are but also love what they create. Their music. The way they express themselves.

At that time, I didn't even know the gravity of Tsuyoshi's SHL. I didn't know it was like a photographer losing his sight. As I said, I came in the middle of the celebrations and in the middle of Tsuyo diagnosis. Domoto Koichi carried alone the name of KinKi Kids in these celebrations. They looked for the best way to celebrate -in such circumstances- these 20th years together and that's how KinKi Kids Party -Thank You for 20th Years- was born with Tsuyoshi only present through a live video call and Koichi on stage. It was sad but also joyful because -somehow- they were together.

How unfortunate. I thought.

But how long would it take for them to be together again? Would it take so long?

Let's go back to the Orchestra.

Let's talk about KinKi Kids very first drama together before they even debuted: Ningen Shikkaku: If I were to die (1994).

It's been moooonths since I wanted to do this post but couldn't collect my thoughts about it to give a proper opinion but oh well. As many of you know, I became a fan of KinKi last year and of course I started by watching their dramas. The first one I saw was Bokura no Yuuki (1997) but soon I discovered this little gem they did when they were only 15: fresh and young kinki, playing complicated characters, an obscure plot and in my opinion it's the best drama I've seen so far not only because the acing but because of the great plot and excellent written characters. Let's start.

THIS MASTERPIECE

I wanted to talk about this album so bad!! Domoto Tsuyoshi (re)surrected project “ENDLICHERI✰ENDLICHERI” now under the name of “ENDRECHERI”. It actually has a meaning though, something like:

END: referring to the previous project that ENDed.
RE: (RE)BORN. The (RE)turn of it.
CHERI: People used to call him by that.

Hybrid Funk it’s the first album under the name of ENDRECHERI and since the very first track we are submerged in a world of ancient fishes, space ships and funky grooves. The rearranged version of an old instrumental track ENDLICHERI✰ENDLICHERI (now named END RE CHERI) with its different variations of rythms and styles, makes it the perfect introduction and also, serves as a summary of the journey.
